Trained by Saeed bin Suroor and jockeyed by Christophe Soumillon, Thunder Snow’s official time in the 2,000-meter race was 2 minutes, 3.87 seconds. His 2019 finish was about two and a half seconds longer than the track record he set during last year’s win: 2 minutes, 1.38 seconds.

Winning over Gronkowski by a nose, five-year-old Thunder Snow is the first horse to win the Dubai World Cup consecutive times. Overall, Thunder Snow has won eight of his 23 career starts.

Sponsored by Emirates Airline, the prize money for the elite Dubai World Cup racing event is $12 million.
